To Book a Personal Retreat

Personal Retreat

• Rooms at the Lodge and Hermitage are available for individual retreatants to stay for a recommended minimum of 2 nights. We ask that retreatants arrive after 3pm, and departure is 12 noon.

• Spiritual Companioning is available upon request and to be arranged with the hosts.

• Meals: Personal retreatants share a small kitchen for preparing their meals and are responsible for bringing their own food. Our suggestion is to bring food that is simple to prepare.

• Sacred Time: Each day the Rivendell community gathers for silent prayer at 8:00 each morning and for a facilitated sacred hour at 5:00 pm in the Sanctuary. Everyone is welcome and no one is obliged to attend. However during the 5pm period, we ask that those present at Rivendell honour this sacred time in their own way.

Group Retreat

• Rivendell is made available for group retreats to assist people in deepening their relationship with the Divine.

• Groups usually provide their own programs & facilitators, and make their own arrangements regarding food.

• Group accommodation is for a maximum of 17 bedrooms for up to 29 people with single or double occupancy.

• Please see the Guidelines page to explore whether Rivendell is the appropriate place for your group retreat.

Rates

Rivendell is committed to accessibility.  In the imbalance of this world's economy, people differ greatly in their financial resources through no fault or merit of their own.  

Rates are based on the ability to pay.  Receipts for income tax purposes will be given on request for amounts more than $100.00 per day.

A retreat may be requested for all five of our sacred spaces: The Lodge or the Cottage (both at the top of Cates Hill), the Hermitage (on the far end of Bowen Island), the Writers Retreat (on Cates Hill just above Snug Cove), or Listening Post (downtown Vancouver). The Lodge is available for both individuals and groups. The Hermitage is for individuals seeking silence and solitude. The Cottage is primarily available for respite, with a particular focus on families or individuals in need. The Writers Retreat is available for creative activity for a single booking of up to 3 individuals. The Listening Post is available only for day retreats for small groups.

Retreatants are encouraged to respect Rivendell`s core values and practices of prayer, silence, simplicity, hospitality and social action, and to embody some or all of these values and practices.

Our sacred spaces receive a high volume of retreat requests. Before sending booking request, we encourage you to email booking@rivendellretreat.org to explore availability and suitability of retreat request. Hermitage and Cottage booking requests, and individual booking requests for the Lodge, will be dealt with as they are received. Group bookings for the Lodge will be reviewed and processed regularly. Booking requests for the Writers Retreat will be sent to a review group specific to that site for decision based on their criteria.
